DOLOMITES: A Heritage for All, Accessible to All
NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
Access to the mountains, regardless of one's skill level or physical and mental condition, is an extraordinary achievement. In the natural environment, it is often not architectural barriers that one faces, but rather those related to inner strength, character, and human qualities, which are often deeply connected to the challenges encountered in life.
A shared treasure like the Dolomites, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009, truly belongs to humanity only if it becomes accessible to everyone. This is the powerful social message that this initiative aims to convey.
THE PROJECT The project, led by alpine guides trained to accompany individuals with physical and mental challenges, aims to promote an inclusive and accessible mountain experience. Since 2015, the Brenta Open event has taken place each summer in the Brenta Dolomites. Together, participants climb the iconic peaks of these mountains, and once at the summit, music echoes from peak to peak, celebrating a special moment with its universal message that breaks down all barriers.
CONCERT FROM THE SUMMITS On the final weekend, all participants and spectators are united in a heartfelt embrace through the “concert from the summits,” featuring musician-alpinists Michele Selva on soprano sax and Michele Pavesi on trumpet.
In this way, the mountains become an extraordinary inclusive space where everyone can explore and cultivate their potential. Natural barriers are not seen as limits but as physical elements that allow one to discover hidden or unexpressed abilities within themselves. This experience aims to demonstrate that, in the mountains, people with disabilities can take on the role of "lead climbers," offering unconventional technical solutions and, above all, new ways of relating to life and nature, which are valuable experiments in a renewed sense of humanity.
11th EDITION The most inclusive event in all the Dolomites renews itself to foster new young talents and reach out to the younger generations. Reflecting on the first ten years, the goal is to start anew with a fresh commitment to sharing and inclusion.
